The Beatles were an English band formed in Liverpool in 1960 that became one of the most influential musical groups in modern history. Consisting of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, the band transformed popular music through their songwriting, experimentation, cultural impact, and evolving artistic vision.
Beginning with energetic rock-and-roll inspired songs and intense fan hysteria known as “Beatlemania,” the group quickly expanded beyond pop stardom into increasingly ambitious musical territory.
